What can you expect from a Croton oil peel?

August 9th, 2010
  • Tighter skin
  • Clearer skin
  • Less age spots and pigmentation problems
  • Less wrinkles around the mouth, crow’s feet, forehead furrows and cheeks.

According to the depth of the peel and the concentration of the Croton oil, the recovery will involve swelling (sometimes excessive swelling), some oozing of serum from the face and dramatic skin redness for the first 7 to 10 days. Some swelling may last for 3-4 months. The oozing should subside by 7-10 days. The redness can last for several months. You may use a liquid or powder foundation to cover redness at about 10-14 days. Always use foundation over sunscreen.

The Croton oil peels are impressive for peri-oral wrinkles (those around the mouth) and of the lower eyelids. These areas can be done isolated with much less recovery time.

These peels are effective alone or as an adjunctive treatment with various injectable products and a good skin care program for non-surgical rejuvenation of the face, neck and chest. The Fraxel Restore would be comparable to the Croton oil peel. The difference would be that the Fraxel recovery would be easier, but the results may not be as permanent as the Croton oil peel. An advantage of both, however, is that they can be done more superficially, if desired, which would shorten the recovery time.
